GROUND AND POUND, RAIDERS SHOCK GIRARD

CANFIELD, OH- South Range and Girard should probably not have waited 51 years for the fireworks show these two teams put on at Raiders Stadium on Friday.  Last year’s state runner-ups came in undefeated and flying high into NE8 play, but South Range controlled the line of scrimmage from the first drive to the last and played with purpose on their way to a 36-22 victory.

Raider Sophomore, Dylan Dominguez was the narrative of this story.  Dominguez ran wild on 19 carries, busting for 207 yards and a touchdown.  The most impressive runs were a few that Dominguez just would not give up and showed his best “Beastmode” impression throughout the game.  Patrick McCabe also toted the rock for 114 yards on 21 carries with a trip to the painted grass.  Isaac Allegretto scored on the ground twice and went 6/11 through the air with a score as well.

Defensively, Corey Kougher led the way with 9 tackles and Colin McCabe with 7.

Girard’s Haeden Gump was impressive on the defensive line, plugging gaps to the tune of 8.5 tackles.  Jimmy Jones was the story offensively for the Indians, 18 carries with 107 yards and two scores.  Andrew DelGarbino went 5/10 for 55 yards and a pick.

South Range (3-2) will head to Bo Rein Stadium to play the Red Dragons while Girard (4-1) heads home to battle NE8 leader, Poland.
