HARRISON CENTRAL TRAPS THE BEAVERS

The Beaver Dome played host Friday night to a story of two halves. The second half proved to be the stronger story as Harrison Central defeated Beaver Local 44-32 on Homecoming night.

The Beavers were in control early as Evan Stephenson would lead the way scoring six 1st quarter points guiding the red & white to a 13-6 lead. The strong play for Beaver Local continued in the 2nd quarter as the defense would put the squeeze on the Huskies creating transition points leading to a 19-9 lead. Broc Taylor would close out the first half converting a breakaway layup off a steal giving the home team a 26-16 halftime lead.

This is where the story would completely change as Harrison Central would author the ending. The Huskies defense would completely shut down the Beavers offense behind a smothering 2-3 zone. That defense would lead the Harrison Central comeback as they would limit the Beavers to just four points in the 3rd quarter.  Hayden Cassidy provided the highlight of the night as his beyond halfcourt shot at the buzzer would ignite the Huskies faithful tying the score 30-30 heading to the 4th quarter.

The final frame proved to be a forgettable chapter for Beaver Local as they would only muster two points late in the quarter off a Broc Taylor runner in the lane. The Huskies outscored their opponent 14-2 in the final frame on their way to the comeback victory.

The Beavers were led by Evan Stehanson and Broc Taylor each scoring 12 respectively. Every story deserves royalty as Faith Talbott would be crowned Homecoming Queen prior to the start of the game. Beaver Local 6-6 looks to stop a 2 game losing streak as they travel to Indian Creek Tuesday.
