CORTLAND, OH- it came down to the wire on Thursday, with Lakeview taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single in the late innings that sealed their victory over Marlington. Lakeview was down 12-11 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Madison Harvey singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring the tying, and game-winning runs.
Lakeview opened up scoring in the second inning, when Harvey singled, scoring one run. Raegan Schick earned the win for the Lady Bulldogs. She surrendered three runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out two.
Shatzer took the loss for Marlington. She went six and two-thirds innings, allowing 13 runs on 22 hits and striking out three.
Lakeview scattered an unbelievable 22 hits in the game. Laura Garvin, Harvey, Titus, Schick, Kelm, Abbie Campana, and Mariah Tackett all managed multiple hits for Lakeview. Titus, Harvey, and Garvin all had four hits to lead the team.
