HEADED HOME: EDISON WILDCATS BASEBALL PREVIEW

RICHMOND, OH – Not only did COVID take the baseball season away from the Edison Wildcats, it also took away a little excitement from the community that was looking forward to the season! Have no fear however because Edison baseball is back and better than ever! Head coach, Mike Collopy is returning for his 14th season at the command and his Wildcats are ready to get on the diamond.

Collopy has compiled a 255-94 record and is coming off a season (2019) where the Wildcats were district, OVAC, and Buckeye 8 runners up. Collopy will lean heavily upon his three seniors, Joe Booth, Blake Connelly, Jayden Sanders, to provide a lot of leadership this season while helping develop some of their younger teammates. The Wildcats are looking to the future though as the underclassmen/newcomers to the varsity team this year will be thrusted into the lineup come opening night. Coach Collopy and the Edison Wildcats will look to continue their previous success and traditions this season as their first game is scheduled for March 29th on the road at East Liverpool.

YSN’s own, BIlly McCartney and Quinn Puskar, were able to take a trip down to Richmond Edison to talk to Coach Collopy about this upcoming season, to get a feel for the hype and excitement for Wildcats baseball to be back, to see what his expectations are this season, as well as, some of the key players to look out for this season!
