HOLLOBAUGH HAULS 1,000 IN EAGLES VICTORY

HUBBARD, Ohio –

With ties between these two schools both on the court and in the stands, last night’s battle of the Eagles did not disappoint.

Looking to defend their homecourt, Riley Heckert and the Hubbard Eagles (5-10) came out swinging. The first quarter saw 5 three pointers fall for Hubbard, 4 of them coming from Heckert. At the end of the first, Hubbard held the lead 25-15.

Warren JFK head coach, Mark Komlanc, a former coach at Hubbard, rallied his troops heading into the second quarter. JFK came out hot and closed Hubbard’s lead down to just 1 by the end of the 2ndquarter, leaving the score at 35-34 going into the break.

The true story line of this game once again came from a familiar JFK face. Cam Hollobaugh came into the night needing a 20-point outing to reach 1000 points for his career. After putting up 17 points in the first half, Hollobaugh was just 3 points away from reaching the mark and he knew it.

During shoot arounds prior to the second half beginning, Hollobaugh flashed three fingers into the crowd, showing that he knew exactly what was needed. But what makes this story all the moreimpressive, was his unselfishness on the way to 1000.

With an easy layup to start the half, Hollobaugh stood just 1 point away. After coming up with a steal, Hollobaugh was out on the break with a teammate and one Hubbard defender. Rather than take a contested layup, Cam tried to dish the ball off to his teammate. While the pass would notgo through, it shows the type of teammate Hollobaugh is, always wanting to win first.

Eventually, Hollobaugh would reach his 1000thpoint on a corner three. His scoring didn’t stop there however, as he would end up with a game high 30 points, leading his team to victory 78-68 over Hubbard.
