HOWLAND FINDS THEIR SWING

WARREN OH- It took a minute for Howland to get their bats going on Wednesday, but once they did they wouldn’t be stopped. With a 6-1 Pymatuning Valley team in town the Tigers traded scoreless frames with the Lakers through three. Then Brooke Gray got the Lakers on the board first in the top of the first. With the way the tempo of the game was going, you’d think scoring first would’ve given the Lakers an edge.  Howland had other plans however, as their bats finally woke up. With two runners on Jayde Fizet knocked in two runs to give the Tigers the lead, and wake up their bats. The Tigers scored three runs a piece in the next three innings to win 9-1.

Fizet ended the game 2-3 at the plate with 3 RBI and 1 run scored. Kayla Campbell had the most hits on the day going 3-4.  Brooke Tatar launched a home run and went 2-4 with a RBI.  Zoe King and Sydney VanNess both finished with multiple hits going 2-4.

Lexi Spangler and Tatar split time in the circle as Spangler started the game going 3.1 IP giving up 1 earned run striking out 4 and walking 1 walk.  Tatar came in to pitch the final 3.2 innings and gave up 0 hits while striking out 7.

Howland returns to action on Thursday as they stay at home to host Magnificat at 5:00 in Howland Township Park.
