HOWLAND’S WIN GIVES BOARDMAN OUTRIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Howland Tigers had no trouble on offense today, winning big over Austintown-Fitch 9-2. The win gives Boardman the outright AAC championship.

Howland got things moving in the first inning. Jak Kenney doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Howland tallied four runs in the seventh inning. Luca Massucci, Robert Gumino, Ryan Hooper, and Brenden Ray all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Ray was credited with the victory for the Tigers. The southpaw lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out four.

Frank Pugliese took the loss for Austintown-Fitch. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out three.

Carter Owens started the game for Austintown-Fitch. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out two

Howland totaled 15 hits. Anthony Massucci, Marco Massucci, Ray, Braden Gebhardt, and Hooper each had multiple hits. Ray, Massucci, and Massucci each collected three hits to lead.

Austintown-Fitch collected six hits on the day. Drew Kaschak and Josh Loew each collected multiple hits.
