HUBBARD BEATS THE RAIN AND SHUTS OUT GIRARD

GIRARD OH— It was a classic pitcher’s duel Tuesday night, but it was Hubbard that came through late, scoring all their runs in the sixth to take down Girard 3-0.

Kaylee Schultz was lights out in the circle for the Eagles, tossing a complete game one-hitter while striking out eight. She kept Girard off balance all night and made sure a late-inning rally wouldn’t be needed.

The offense finally cracked through in the sixth. Haleigh Taylor started the rally with a double to left, Ashley Masluk followed with an RBI single, and Lylah Taylor added another knock to push the lead to 3-0. That was all Schultz needed to lock it down.

Hubbard out-hit Girard 9-1 in the win. Haleigh Taylor led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4, while Layla Songer added a pair of hits. Each of the Taylors and Masluk picked up an RBI.

Brooklyn Broll threw well for Girard, going the full seven innings, but got little help from the offense. Caylee Wilkes picked up the lone hit for the Indians. Hubbard will turn the page quickly and host South Range on Wednesday in another tough matchup.
