HUBBARD DOESN’T FLINCH FROM A CHALLANGE
HUBBARD OH- Hubbard lit up the scoreboard Thursday night, riding a monster third inning and a hot bat from Lauren Komorek to an 8-2 win over St. Vincent-St. Mary.
Komorek was locked in at the plate, racking up three knocks—including a triple in the fourth—and getting it done from the leadoff spot. But it was the third inning where the Eagles really punched the gas. They dropped six runs in the frame, capitalizing on sharp contact, smart baserunning, and a little help from the defense.
A sac fly opened the floodgates before a couple of RBI singles kept the pressure on. A defensive miscue from SVSM didn’t help, letting two more cross the plate as Hubbard flipped a 2-0 game into a runaway.
In the circle, Haleigh Taylor was steady as ever. She scattered three hits across six innings, didn’t allow an earned run, and fanned five before handing the ball to Kaylee Schultz, who slammed the door with a scoreless seventh and two punchouts.
Hubbard’s sticks stayed busy all game, with multiple hitters driving in runs and putting pressure on SVSM’s pitching from start to finish. Next up, the Eagles head to McDonald on Friday, looking to keep the momentum rolling.
