HUBBARD HAS A HIT PARADE

HUBBARD OH-  Hubbard brought the bats and never let up, steamrolling Struthers 22-2 on Tuesday in a game that was all Eagles from the jump.

Johnny Reyes only needed one hit to do major damage, racking up four RBIs—two of them coming on a base knock in the third, with the others off a groundout and a fielder’s choice. He was one of many Eagles cashing in with ducks on the pond all night long.

The hit parade started early. In the top of the first, Hubbard hung a crooked number with a groundout RBI, a two-run single, and a double that made it 4-0 before Struthers could blink. Things only got worse in the second, with an error plating two more, and a Leshnack single adding another run.

Then came the third—seven more runs on just three hits. Reyes drove in two, Leshnack tripled in two more, and the Eagles took full advantage of errors and productive outs to pile it on.

By the fifth, it was batting practice. Hubbard dropped another eight runs on seven hits. Yobe and Thompson each knocked in a run with singles, Cheney and Johnson worked RBI walks, and the rest of the lineup kept the pressure on with base knocks from Ifft, Smith, and Maddox Ifft.

Gabe Rusnak picked up the win, striking out six over three innings while giving up just four hits and two runs—only one earned. Maddox Pieton and Cheney came out of the pen and shut the door the rest of the way.

Hubbard pounded out 17 hits, with Leshnack going 3-for-3 and both Ifft and Yobe collecting multiple knocks. The team showed patience too, drawing seven free passes.

Struthers managed two RBIs and turned a double play, but this one was all Eagles from start to finish. These two squads square off again on Wednesday, with Struthers hoping to flip the script.
