HUBBARD HOLDS TIGHT SURVIVES FALCONS RALLY

JEFFERSON OH- After blocking Kyle Walker’s punt with a little over 1 minute and 20 seconds to go, the Jefferson Falcons took over at the Eagles 5-yard line, trailing by just 5. For a senior class that only has a total of 2 wins throughout their 3 years, they were just 5 yards away from defeating a team who has beaten up on their program for the last 10 years.

After a Bruckman carry for 0 and a Hitchcock QB draw for only 2, the Falcons had 3rd and goal from the 3. Hitchcock dropped back and fired one over to his wideout that already reached pay dirt once this quarter, Trenton Hodge, but Hubbard defensive lineman Donnie Cheffo got a hand in the passing lane and was able to knock it down.

4th and goal, 3 yards to go. Hubbard looking to extend their winning streak to 6 over the Falcons, Jefferson seeking just their 3rd victory in 4 years. With everything on the line last night, Jefferson went back to the slant that worked all game long. But this time, to no avail. A screaming backer, Evan Jarvis, was able to put pressure on the young quarterback and forced him to make a bad throw behind his open receiver.

Hubbard: The Eagles will play host to the Lakeview Bulldogs (0-2). Of the last 5 matchups, Hubbard was won 3 games by an average margin of 33 points, while Lakeview’s two wins have come at an average of just a little over 4 points.

Jefferson:  The Falcons will hit the road and travel south to take on the Struthers Wildcats (1-1). With their loss tonight, the Falcons have lost 22 straight conference games in a row.
