HUBBARD HOLDS UP THEIR SOLID PITCHING

STRUTHERS OH-  Matthew Bobovnik was on cruise control Wednesday night at Bob Cene Park, mowing down Struthers with a dominant one-hit shutout to lead Hubbard to a 6-0 win.

Bobovnik was filthy on the mound—seven innings, 10 strikeouts, just one hit, and zero runs allowed. Struthers couldn’t get anything going against him, and when they did manage to put the ball in play, Hubbard’s defense was airtight, turning a clean double play and not committing a single error all game.

The Eagles wasted no time giving Bobovnik some breathing room. In the bottom of the first, Braydon Songer ripped a triple to bring in the first run, and Zack Svensson followed up with a two-RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.

They added two more in the third off a base knock to center, and one more late to put the game out of reach.

Svensson and Logan Balla each drove in a pair, while five different Eagles collected hits to keep the pressure on. Johnny Reyes was a vacuum at short, racking up 10 chances without a hitch.

Struthers managed just one hit the entire game and couldn’t figure out Bobovnik’s rhythm. Next up for Hubbard: a road matchup at Poland on Thursday.
