INDIANS CHAIN DOWN CHANEY
GIRARD OH- Girard steamrolled Chaney 16-0 on Friday, making quick work of things at home.
The Indians blew it open in the second, hanging a crooked number with a big rally. Ava Serrano got it started with a two-run single, Riley Collins drew a bases-loaded walk, Quinn Wilster dropped a sac bunt to bring one in, Caylee Wilkes smoked an RBI double, and Brooklyn Broll capped it with a two-run single.
Girard poured it on again in the third, putting up six more runs on just two hits. Wilster worked a bases-loaded walk, Wilkes hammered another two-run double, Gianna Saxon ripped a two-run double of her own, and Gabby Doran grounded out to knock in another.
Chloe Plant was lights out in the circle, tossing a one-hitter over five shutout innings, punching out eight and walking two.
Girard racked up 11 hits on the day. Kyra Bell, Wilkes, Plant, and Broll all had two hits apiece. Wilkes and Saxon each drove in three runs to pace the offense. The Indians showed good discipline too, drawing eight walks, with Wilster and Collins each working two free passes. Girard played clean defense too, not booting a single ball, with Collins handling eight chances. Girard gets right back to it Monday when they host Poland.
