INDIANS OUTPACE REBELS, RENEW RIVALRY

COLUMBIANA, OH – Crestview was coming off their first win of the season after beating Newton Falls but this week, the Rebels ran into a powerful Southern Indians run offense that controlled the game for most of the night. Crestview would make it interesting in the second half trimming Southern’s lead by 10 but the Indians would prove too much. The Indians would remain unbeaten with a 41-24 victory.

The Rebels got on the board first with a 20 yard Field Goal by Kicker Brandon Yanssens to give them the lead 3-0. Indians would answer quickly on their second play of the game when Quarterback Jayce Sloan found the endzone with a 70-yard touchdown run to make the game, 6-3. The Rebels would score their own touchdown on the next drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Cusick to Yanssens to regain the lead 10-6. Sloan would score on the impending drive again after a 3-yard touchdown run gives the Indians a 14-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Southern would increase their lead in the second quarter after a 50-yard touchdown pass from Sloan to Running Back Bradly Sloan made the game 22-10. The Indians would continue their run success after Wide Receiver Cam Grodhaus would score a 15-yard touchdown to increase their lead to 28-10 before halftime.
Crestview would own the third quarter after a safety committed by Southern and a 4-yard touchdown run by Cusick cut the Indians lead to ten making the game 28-18. Southern’s Grodhaus would score again in the fourth quarter from 2 yards out to increase the Indians lead, 34-18. Rebels Running Back Ethan Powell brought Crestview closer with a 5-yard touchdown run to make the game 34-24 but the Indians would continue run on the Rebels after Running Back Dylan Milhoan would give the Indians one more touchdown to beat the Rebels 41-24.
Crestview(1-4) will face Brookfield next week at home. Southern(5-0) will travel to Lisbon for week 6 of the 2019 season.
