CANFIELD, OH- The Canfield Cardinals and Girard Indians opened up the 2022 fall volleyball season at Canfield high school on Saturday morning. The Cardinals and Indians went 5 sets, with the Indians taking the final set to claim victory.

This match was a rematch from last year, as Canfield took down Girard in 4 sets a year ago. The second time around, the Indians got revenge and beat Canfield 15-8 in the last set.

The experienced pin hitters for Girard lead the way throughout the match. The Indians leaned on senior Lauren Pallone and junior Bree Latell who had the majority of the teams points.

For Canfield, it was a combined effort from everyone. The Cardinals used experienced players to build the lead through the first 3 sets. Maddy Cleevely, Abby Muckelroy, Carly Slaven, and Bella Bucciarelli all combined for the majority of the Cardinal’s kills.

Final set results:

Set 1: Canfield 25-13
