IRISH CREATE ISSUES FOR COLUMBIANA
YOUNGSTOWN OH- Thomas Kosovan was dealing Monday at Cene Park, mowing down 11 hitters and tossing a three-hit shutout as Ursuline rolled past Columbiana 10-0. Kosovan didn’t walk a single batter over his six innings of work, just pure command and domination.
The Irish came out swinging, dropping seven runs in the first to set the tone. Rowan Urbach walked in a run, Luke Kollar ripped a double to drive one home, another run scored on a play at the plate, Luke Stroney and Joe Balog each knocked in a run with singles, and CJ Snyder capped it off with a two-run single. Ursuline added another run in the third when a passed ball brought a runner across.
Reese Roush took the loss for Columbiana, lasting just two-thirds of an inning after getting hit for seven runs on five hits.
Ursuline piled up 13 hits on the day. Jake Bednar, Stroney, and Snyder each had a pair of knocks, with Snyder leading the charge with two RBIs. The Irish were aggressive on the bases too, swiping five bags, with AJ Snyder picking up two of them. They also turned a double play defensively to keep Columbiana quiet.
Columbiana managed just three hits, one each from Hunter Davanzo, Max Conway, and Zane Strohecker, and turned a double play of their own, but it wasn’t nearly enough. Next up, Ursuline heads to Harding on Tuesday, while Columbiana gets back to league action Wednesday against Leetonia.
