IRISH MAKE FITCH SEE GREEN
STRUTHERS OH- Ursuline kept things rolling Thursday night with a solid 6-3 win over Austintown-Fitch under the lights at Bob Cene Park.
The Irish wasted no time getting on the board, stringing together a few base knocks in the bottom of the first to push across the game’s first run. They kept the pressure on from there and never really let up. Fitch made some noise in the fourth with a solo shot to right, but that was the only big swing they’d manage against Ursuline’s pitching.
Joe Balog went the distance on the mound for the Irish, scattering six hits and three runs over seven innings while striking out six. He stayed in control all night and got the job done.
Ursuline’s lineup stayed disciplined, working eight walks in the game to keep the basepaths busy. Rowan Urbach led the hit parade with a 3-for-4 day, and Thomas Kosovan chipped in two RBIs on a perfect 1-for-1 night with a couple of walks. The defense behind them was spotless—no errors and clean play all around.
Fitch spread out their hits across the order and got RBI from three different bats, but couldn’t string enough together to catch up. Another strong team win for Ursuline, who continues to stay sharp heading into the back half of the season.
