IRISH NO WHERE CLOSE TO DONE

JEFFERSON, OHIO- Mia Opalick shut down the Jefferson Falcons, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Ursuline Fighting Irish to a 5-0 victory on Thursday in the sectional finals.

The Irish racked up ten hits in the game as Mackenzie Smith and Opalick all managed multiple hits. Opalick and Smith all had three hits to the Irish at the plate.

A single by Bodey Beckwith in the first inning was a positive for the Falcons.

Opalick got the win for the Irish as the righthander went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out 15.

Sammie Speakman took the loss for the Falcons. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out ten.

With the win, The Irish will head to the District Semi-Finals to take on Aurora.
