IRISH STAY GOLDEN, TAKE DOWN COLUMBIANA
COLUMBIANA, OH- Seven errors did Columbiana (4-5) in as they fell to the Ursuline Irish (4-6) Thursday afternoon 10-1. Ursuline put 4 on the board in the first inning and 2 in the second aided by four Clipper errors and some timely hitting.
Columbiana was able to pick up 7 hits on the day. Chase Franken had 2 hits including a double while Ryan Fahs also collected up 2 hits. Evan Kenneally drove in the only run for Columbiana with a 2 out single in the 3rd inning.
Kenneally was also strong on the mound pitching 3.2 innings of relief giving up 3 runs (0 earned) and only 1 hit while striking out 6.
Ursuline was led be Joel Kreuzweiser at the plate who went 2-2 and accounted for two runs, along with Dante Walker who also was 2-2 with an RBI. Also contributing big to the offense was John Schatzel with a two-run double, and Brady Shannon with a 3-run dinger in the sixth.
Jonah Kirchner went the distance for Ursuline scattering 7 hits and striking out three.
The Clippers will be back in action Friday as they head to Beloit to take on West Branch. Game time is scheduled for 5 PM.
