IRISH TAKE THE FIGHT TO THE TIGERS
CANFIELD OH- Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary gradually turned up the heat on Howland, pulling away for a 66-43 win Friday at the South Range Holiday Hoops Classic. The Irish relied on sharp shooting and balanced scoring to get the job done.
Kendal Batchik was on fire, dropping 21 points, including five buckets from downtown. Melania Cornute chipped in 16, and Sydney Ferguson added 14 to round out St. V’s big three.
For Howland, Mya Kubancsek was unstoppable, pouring in a game-high 24 points to keep her squad in it. Rylie Villwock added 9 points in support, but the Tigers couldn’t keep pace with St. V’s attack.
Both teams are back in action Saturday at South Range. St. V’s will clash with Fitch, while Howland takes on Hathaway Brown.
