IRISH WAKE UP TO VICTORY

Kyleigh Golden did the opposing team no favors on Wednesday, picking up four hits over four at bats and leading Ursuline to a 11-8 win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt. Golden doubled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fifth.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt scored five runs in the third inning, but Ursuline still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive onslaught by Bamberg-Ehrhardt was led by Mikayla Hallman and Addi Jameson, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

The Irish captured the lead in the first inning when Mia Opalick tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Ursuline took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Hannah Saluga hit a solo homer, Liza Barbato singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Golden singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Golden earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Ursuline. Golden lasted three innings, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out eight. Barbato threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Ursuline totaled 13 hits in the game. Golden, Barbato, and Opalick all collected multiple hits for. Golden went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the way in hits.
