ITS A BULLDOG SWEEP ON SENIOR NIGHT

POLAND OH-  Poland Seminary girls softball swept a double header against Northeast 8 Conference rival Niles McKinley by a score of 15-1 and 15-0 in the nightcap.  Poland improves to 17-7 on the season and 11-3 in Northeast 8 Conference play.

In the first game, Poland’s pitchers Katie McDonald, Olivia Horn and Connie Cougras allowed no hits and scattered 7 strikeouts over the contest.  On offense, Poland had 14 hits with Leanne Williams staying perfect at the plate going 4-4 with a double.  Mary Brant and Connie Cougras both stayed perfect at the plate, each going 2-2 with Brant adding a double.
In the nightcap, Poland exploded for 19 hits with Connie Cougras, Olivia Horn and Bella Marrie staying perfect at the plate.  Cougras had 4 hits, Marrie and Horn each had three hits.  Cougras and Horn each had doubles. Sophia Dedo added 3 hits in 4 at bats along with Emily Denney and Ella Gaffney adding 2 hits.  Freshman Olivia Horn went the distance on the mound and collected 12 strikeouts.
For Niles, Lucy Deluca stayed perfect at the plate going 2-2, while Jenna Melius added the other hit which was a double.  Zoey Beck took the mound loss in both contests.
