JARVIS TOSSES NO HITTER AS HUBBARD PREVAILS

HUBBARD, Ohio

Evan Jarvis threw the first no-hitter on the Hubbard Eagle’s new baseball field built in 2016. Jarvis struck out 13 in a 16-1 victory over the Brookfield Warriors.

It isn’t too often you see a no-hitter with a run given up, but after Jarvis would hit a Brookfield batter to lose his perfect game in the 4th, the Hubbard defense would make an error and allow the runner to score.

Not only was Jarvis getting it done on the defensive side of things, but he was producing at the plate as well. Finishing 1-for-2 on the day, Jarvis had a game high 3 RBIs and added a double as well.

After fanning the first two batters in the top of the 5th inning, fatigue was starting to set in. Jarvis would walk the 3rd batter of the inning on 4 straight pitches and started the next hitter off with a ball. With history on his mind, Jarvis would stepoff and take a deep breath before firing three strikes for the backwards K and sealing his no-hitter.

“It’s really cool,” Jarvis said, “I was happy the few balls that did get hit got fielded and I have to thank my team for that.” The ultimate teammate, Jarvis is no stranger to the big stage. A starter since his freshman season, the right-handedsenior came into the day feeling good, saying he knew in the very first inning that he was bringing it.
