JFK COMPLETES THE DREAM AND BRINGS HOME STATE TROPHY

AKRON OH- JFK’s magical season met a climactic finish on Sunday as they faced off with top ranked Lincolnview for the Division IV State Championship. This was JFK’s first trip to the state tournament, and they made the most out of their opportunity. The Eagles mixed timely hitting with lockdown pitching to secure a 4-0 win and a state title. The first state championship of the baseball program’s history.

Gavin Shrum didn’t allow a single run for JFK on Sunday. Shrum allowed just five hits.

One bright spot for Lincolnview was a single by Landon Price in the first inning.

Shrum led the Eagles to victory on the mound. Shrum went seven innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Collin Overholt took the loss for Lincolnview. The hurler went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out nine.

JFK tallied seven hits in the game. Aidan Rossi, Shrum, and Michael Mauro all had multiple hits. Mauro, Shrum, and Rossi each collected two hits to lead.

Price led Lincolnview with two hits in three at bats.
