JOHNSON, QUAKERS WALK OFF WINNERS ON SENIOR NIGHT

SALEM, OH- The Quakers improved to 7-1 at home this year at Ray Reisbeck Field after a walk-off winner on in extra innings on Senior Night.

Salem fell behind early as junior starter Seth Seddon allowed a run in the first to get the Beavers on the board.

Salem wouldn’t tie things up until the 5th inning when senior Turner Johnson stole second after a 2 out base hit and was then knocked in by freshman Blaize Exline On a base hit to right field.

Beaver Local would retake the lead in the 6th on a home run to left field off of Seddon.

The Quakers, however, would once again tie it up in the bottom of the 6th when a sac fly from Seddon scored freshman pinch runner Darius Beck on a close play at the plate.

Seddon would allow base runners in both the 7th and 8th but no more runs for the Beavers as Seddon went 8 innings giving up 2 runs on 8 hits while striking out 7.

After loading the bases with one out in the 7th and failing to score, the Quakers would come through in the 8th inning as the first two runners both reached on errors. After the next two hitters struck out, senior Turner Johnson came up and line a base hit into the right-center field gap scored senior Bryce Owen from second base giving the Quakers the victory.

Turner Johnson, Adam Wilson, and Blaize Exline all had 2 hits for the Quakers.

Salem is now 10-11 on the year and 5-5 in the EBC. They will finish their EBC schedule tomorrow and Wednesday when the Quakers take on Carrollton. Salem will host the Warriors tomorrow at Ray Reisbeck Field with the first pitch at 5 pm.
