LISBON, OH- The Columbiana Softball team tried as much as they could to stop it, but it was just a night the belonged to Lisbon’s Justyce Vrable.
Lisbon built an 11-run lead in the second inning and then held off Columbiana’s charge for a 17-15 victory on Monday. Columbiana tallied 13 runs in the failed comeback. Julia Rapp, Cessna Stoy, Maci Linhart, Alyssa Tohm, Tori Long, and Kennedy Fullum picked up RBIs to lead the rally.
Lisbon pulled away for the majority of the game with 12 runs in the second inning. In the second Kenedy Vrable singled on a 2-2 count, scoring a run, then her sister Justyce homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Autumn Oehlstrom hit a solo homer, Kaity Clark singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, McKenna Dailey doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Taylor Deland‘s sac fly scored one run for David Anderson Blue Devils Varsity, Kenedy Vrable doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run, and little sister did it again and homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run for the Lady Blue Devils.
Emma Thompson earned the win for Lisbon. She lasted three innings, allowing ten hits and ten runs while walking one. Mya Emmerling threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Marissa Makosky took the loss for Columbiana. She went two and a third innings, allowing 13 runs on 13 hits and walking one.
Lisbon totaled 19 hits. Mallory Gallo, Vrable, Oehlstrom, Thompson, Clark, and Vrable all managed multiple hits for David Anderson Blue Devils Varsity.Vrable and Gallo each collected four hits to lead the Lady Blue Devils.
Columbiana tallied 15 hits. Rapp, Fullum, Linhart, Long, and Makosky all had multiple hits for Columbiana. Rapp led Columbiana with three hits in five at bats. Columbiana stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Linhart led the way with three.
