KADVAN STEPS DOWN IN UNITED

HANOVERTON, OH- In what came as a surprise across the basketball community, United Local Head Basketball Coach Chris Kadvan has stepped down from his duties. Kadvan compiled a 56-86 record in his 6 seasons leading the Golden Eagles.

“As of June 2nd, 2020 I will be stepping down as the United Men’s Basketball coach. This decision was not an easy one to make, and comes with a heavy heart, however being a parent, husband, and educator first must remain my top priority. As a person who values dedication, I know that the commitment and time invested in both the off season and regular season is important to the success of the program.

When I was hired as the head coach of this program six years ago, I knew we had a tall task ahead of us. The program needed rebuilt and I tried my best to bring pride to United Men’s Basketball. During this time as head coach, we faced many ups and downs, wins and losses, and memorable experiences. Although this last season was not as successful as many would have liked, but that season does not define us. I can still say that I am proud of the community and school spirit that was reinstated. Stands were full and support was there surrounding the players and the game. I am hopeful that this new tradition of hard work and dedication will continue for these young men as they continue their basketball careers and that the youth program continues to grow.

I would like to thank all of the players that have helped to shape this program. It really started with them believing that the program could be something more. There are still many players that have graduated that I continue to keep in contact with and will always be there for them as needed. I would like to thank all of the coaches that have assisted me in coaching these young men and supported me in my coaching decisions. I lastly would like to thank the administration that hired me and believed in me to change this program. Since I was in 5th grade, every single winter has been dedicated to basketball and it is now time to dedicate my time to my family. I look forward to continuing to support this program and watch it grow.”

When reached for comment with YSN, Kadvan pointed to taking time for his family as a top priority for him.  The Kadvan’s welcomed their second bundle of joy this past spring.

We wish Chris Kadvan the best of luck in future endeavors and look forward to seeing him back on the hardwood in the future.
