KNIGHTS GRAB TENTH WIN OF THE SEASON

By Ty Bartell

AKRON OH- In a Thursday night battle between two programs searching for their tenth victory of the season, The Archbishop Hoban Knight Softball Club hosted in The Brunswick Blue Devils! Since traveling to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for spring break,

The Hoban Knights have been riding some type of hot streak! Winners of their last six contests entering Tuesday, while Brunswick also had a winning streak of seven entering the game. Something had to give as both teams featured premier starters in the circle, with Faith Porter going for The Knights and Aaliyah Radwan tossing for The Blue Devils.

Both pitchers did their job and executed at a high level through the first four innings of play. Porter was flawless through four, while striking out seven. As Radwan pitched through minor traffic in the first and posted zeros on the board in the innings to follow. Entering the bottom of the fifth, Taylor Gerring got hit by a pitch to get the leadoff runner aboard for The Knights. Gerring would come around to score the first run of the game following an error on the infield by Brunswick. Hoban would go on to score two additional runs in the innings that was capped-off by a Nylah Durham RBI-single!

The Knights would add an additional insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, as Faith Porter shutout The Blue Devils in the top of the seventh to claim win number ten for Hoban! Porter was masterful, going the complete game allowing just one hit, one walk and fanning seven in a shutout effort.

Following the loss, Brunswick (9-6) will now look to host Strongsville (5-6) on Friday, April 21st. While Hoban (10-2) will hit the road in a YSN premier matchup with Austintown-Fitch (12-0) also on Friday and scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch!
