KOHLER CLUTCH DOWN THE STRETCH FOR SOUTH RANGE

The Lady Raiders withstood a furious 4th quarter rally from Carrollton for a 54-51 win and improve to 5-0.

The first quarter of the game started off slow for both offenses as the Raiders took a slim deficit into the 2nd quarter at 14-13.

The second quarter is when the game of back and forth runs really began. Carrollton opened up the quarter with a 9-1 run forcing the Raiders into turnovers and quick shots. After a timeout, the Raiders were in desperate need of points. Senior Samantha Patrone stepped up with a huge 3 to cut the lead to 23-17. From there the Warrior offense began to rush and turn the ball over. The Raiders capitalized with excellent transition offense and then Bri Modic hit a three from the corner to put the Raiders in the lead 29-26.  That would be the score at halftime.

The Raiders really dominated the 3rd quarter. They used ball movement to feed freshman Izzy Lamparty inside, Dani Vuletich also made a few key offensive rebounds to help the Raiders push to a 42-32 lead after three quarters.

The Warriors refused to go away however as Mikayla Poole lead her team to storm back scoring 12 of her game-high 26 points in the 4th quarter. The Warriors were never able to tie the game however, every time the Warriors would get close, the Raiders would make big plays. Late in the game, the Warriors forced a big turnover and got an old-fashioned 3 point play to cut the Raider lead to 52-49 with under a minute to go. They fouled immediately and sent freshman Bree Kohler to the free throw line who was perfect from the line to that point. Kohler missed both shots and the Warriors were able to go down and score quickly to make it 52-51 Raiders. The Warriors sent Kohler to the free throw line yet again fresh off her two misses just minutes before. But the freshman was not phased, she buried her two free throws putting the Raider lead at 54-51 to force Carrollton into a desperation three that would not fall.

The Raiders offense was extremely balanced having 4 players in double figures. Izzy Lamparty lead the way with 12 while Maddie Durkin added 11. Samantha Patrone and Bree Kohler both finished with 10.

The Lady Raiders will return to action Thursday traveling to take on old ITCL rival Crestview. JV will start at 5:30.
