Poland sailed to an easy victory over Girard 10-1 on Wednesday

Girard got things moving in the first inning, when Owens grounded out, scoring one run.

Poland knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Cami Lattanzio doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The Bulldogs pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning.  In the third Kaili Gross singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, Ashley Wire tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and Lattanzio singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Poland scored five runs in the fourth inning.  The offensive onslaught by the Bulldogs was led by Gross, Wire, Ally Nittoli, and Jackie Grisdale, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Gross led the Bulldogs to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She went seven innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out ten and walking one.

Dohy took the loss for Girard. She went six innings, allowing ten runs on 14 hits, striking out five and walking one.

Poland saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits in the game.  Wire, Gross, Lauren Sienkiewicz, Brooke Bobbey, Nittoli, and Lattanzio each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs.  Wire went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Poland offensively.
