LADY DOGS BUST OUT BROOMS AGAINST RANGE

POLAND, OH- It had a “Big Game” feel to the second meeting of the South Range/Poland softball series, and the Lady Bulldogs were ready for the fight.  Poland put up four runs in the third on its way to a 7-1 victory over South Range on Wednesday. Kaili Gross and Ally Nittoli all drove in runs in the frame.

If we’re being honest Poland fired up the offense in the second inning, when Cami Lattanzio hit a solo homer.  A tide-turner for certain.  Poland pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Gross tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run and Poland scored on a stolen base during Nittoli‘s at-bat. Then Nittoli homered-driving in two.

Gross earned the win for the Lady Bulldogs. She went seven innings, allowing one run on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.  Bree Kohler took the loss for South Range. She allowed ten hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out nine.

Poland stacked ten hits on the day. Ashley WireGrossNittoli, and Lattanzio each managed multiple hits for Poland.  LattanzioNittoliGross, and Wire all had two hits to lead the Lady Dogs. Poland tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Wire led the way with two.

South Range scattered nine hits in the game. Hannah Dennison and Kohler each collected multiple hits for South Range. South Range was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jillian Stekansky made the most plays with nine.
