LADY IRISH TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Katie Koulianos was an RBI machine on Wednesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Ursuline past Mineral Ridge 14-1 on Wednesday. Koulianos drove in runs on a double in the first and a triple later that same inning.

Ursuline secured the victory thanks to 13 runs in the first inning. The rally was led by singles by Brooke O’Palick, Hannah Saluga, Ari Wendt, and Savannah Patrone, doubles by Koulianos, Kyleigh Golden, and Saluga, and a triple by Koulianos.

Mineral Ridge got on the board in the first inning when Mineral Ridge scored one run on a stolen base.

Golden was the winning pitcher for the Lady Irish. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Ylonen was on the rubber for Mineral Ridge. The pitcher allowed five hits and nine runs. Merolillo threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Ursuline racked up 12 hits in the game. Patrone, Saluga, O’palick, and Koulianos all managed multiple hits for the Fighting Irish. Patrone went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Ursuline in hits. The Irish were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Mackenzie Smith had the most chances in the field with five.
