LADY QUAKERS FALL SHORT AGAINST LIBERTY

STRUTHERS, OH- The Salem Lady Quakers season came to an end Wednesday night as they fell to Liberty 50-43.

It was apparent early that Liberty’s length and athleticism were going to be a problem for the Quakers offense. The Leopards played mostly zone and that fed right into the hands of their strength. The Quakers suffered 7 turnovers in the 1st Qtr and were 0/10 from beyond the arc. The Quakers would trail 13-8 after a quarter.

The Quakers slowly settled down on offense only giving up 5 turnovers in the 2nd quarter. Still, Liberty’s ability to run in transition and score easy buckets was giving Salem’s defense trouble. Even after Quaker made shots Liberty would consistently beat them down the floor. At the half, Salem was sticking around down 22-18.

In the second half, the Quakers offense fixed the turnover problem. Only surrendering 4 of them in the final two frames. This made Salem consistently get close to the Leopards. However, Liberty was able to punch back every time Salem got close. This game went from a 2 point game to an 8 point game more than once in the second half.  Liberty just hit too many clutch shots for Salem to make a game-winning run. Liberty would win 50-43.

Ellie Davidson and Kyla Jamison both had 12 points for the Quakers to lead. Davidson notched a double-double adding 10 rebounds. Jamison had 9.
