LADY RAIDERS BOUNCE BACK, DOWN POLAND

The Raider Volleyball team earned their first NE8 win of the season with a sweep of Poland on Thursday night (25-23 25-10 25-20)

In the first set the Raiders found themselves down early 5-12, but a couple of Poland mistakes and 3 consecutive kills from Emily Irons helped the Raiders grab control of a close set. Anna Primavera got rolling right away racking up 6 kills in the set and Emily Irons had an impressive stretch of 3 kills back to back to back leading the Raiders to a 25-23 set 1 win.

The 2nd set was not one the Poland coaching staff will look back on and smile about. The Raiders dominated a 25-10 set while only gathering 7 kills. Poland in the negative hitting percentage to help the Raiders secure set 2.

Set 3 got back to competitive volleyball as the Bulldogs regathered and stayed away from costly errors. The Raiders saw a 16-13 lead turn into a tie set 16-16 with 3 consecutive hitting errors. Primavera quickly got the Raiders back on track with a kill to make it 17-16. Jenna Barbessi would add a kill of her own to pad a Raider lead and help them escape with set 3 and the sweep 25-20.

As a team, the Raiders hit .290 with 29 kills and just 9 attack errors.  Anna Primavera swung her way to 17 kills. Emily Irons finished with 11 assists and 5 kills. Drew Ferren finished with 15 assists and 6 digs. Mary Kuhns grabbed 11 digs on the night.
