LAKEVIEW ESCAPES INDIANS UPSET BID

CORTLAND OH- It was not looking good for Lakeview on Thursday night as they fell behind 2-0 to a powerful Girard team. They could see their long NE8 win streak, and their undefeated season slipping away. The Bulldogs barked back and rallied to win 3 sets in a row to dodge a bullet and beat Girard in five (16-25 20-25 25-17 25-16 25-13).

Tara Lytle led a balanced Bulldog offense with 12 kills. She also managed to grab 3 aces, and 3 blocks. Senior Anna Peterson showed great leadership and finished with 9 kills, 4 digs, and 1 ace.  Maddie Bayus continues her strong defense leading the back row with 23 digs. Brooke Schnider wasn’t far off with 21. Maggie Pavlansky set up 34 assists.

Lakeview will take a deep breath and travel to Struthers on Tuesday. Girard will need to look ahead, as they have a tough non conference match Monday hosting Western Reserve.
