LAKEVIEW KEEPS UP THEIR PACE
STRUTHERS OH- Lakeview came out swinging and never let off the gas, rolling to a 15-0 win over Struthers on Wednesday behind a big-time showing from Mackenzie Stowe.
Stowe set the tone early, ripping a two-run double in the first, then came back in the second with a triple down the line that brought home two more. She capped it off in the third with another triple that tacked on another RBI, finishing the day with four runs driven in and three hits.
The Bulldogs wasted no time jumping out front. A pair of doubles in the first got things rolling, then a five-hit third inning blew the game wide open. Errors didn’t help Struthers’ cause, and Lakeview took full advantage with a five-run frame that featured extra-base hits, RBI singles, and another triple from—you guessed it—Stowe.
In the fifth, Lakeview kept pouring it on with three more runs. One came off a no-doubt solo homer, and the other two crossed on a sharp single up the middle.
Ava Bacon took care of business in the circle. She went the full five innings, scattered four hits, struck out seven, and gave up zero runs.
Lakeview finished with 16 hits in all. Stowe, Kalyssa Werner, and Annaliese Dejulio each racked up three apiece. The Bulldogs also played a clean game defensively, no errors on the stat sheet, and Stowe made the most plays in the field with five.
Struthers managed four hits, but couldn’t find a way to string anything together against Bacon’s rhythm. Lakeview is back in action Thursday with a trip to Poland Seminary.
