LAKEVIEW STAYS AHEAD OF POLAND IN THE STANDINGS

CORTLAND OH- Lakeview defeated Poland Seminary 4-3 on Tuesday to stay in front of the Bulldogs in the NE8 standings.

Poland Seminary got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run.

Lakeview evened things up at three in the bottom of the third inning when Gianna Caruso singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Lakeview pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Hallie Capan hit a solo homer.

Lakeview put up three runs in the third inning. Their offense in the inning came from singles by Isabella Isenberg and Caruso and a fielder’s choice by Makenna Werner.

Isenberg toed the rubber for Lakeview. The righthander surrendered three runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Katie McDonald started the game for Poland Seminary. The hurler allowed four hits and four runs over six innings, striking out five.

Lakeview tallied one home run on the day. Capan had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Capan, Caruso, Kalyssa Werner, and Isenberg each managed one hit to lead Lakeview’s offense.

Poland nine hits in the game. Avery Jakubovic and Leanna Bocceri each collected multiple hits. Poland didn’t commit a single error in the field. Elliana Thompson had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
