LAKEVIEW TAKES GAME ONE OF PIVOTAL NE8 SERIES

CANFIELD OH- Lakeview’s bats got the job done on Friday, rolling past South Range 9-4 behind a monster day from Kalyssa Werner.

Werner was locked in, going 3-for-4 at the plate and knocking in four runs. She ripped a two-run single in the fourth, then came through again in the seventh with another two-run knock to pad the lead and put things out of reach.

South Range got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first, and after trading punches early, it was the top of the fourth where Lakeview flipped the script. The Bulldogs exploded for five runs on four hits—Werner’s clutch hit on a 6-pitch battle was the dagger in the rally.

Isabella Isenberg went the distance in the circle for Lakeview, scattering six hits and four runs—only two earned—over seven innings. She didn’t walk a single batter and picked up five strikeouts along the way.

Lakeview piled up 12 hits on the day, with Annaliese Dejulio and Linnea Kovac each picking up a couple. Dejulio also tied things up early with an RBI single in the second that kept momentum rolling the Bulldogs’ way.

South Range had six different hitters tally hits, including RBIs from Sophia Brogan and Giada Pauline, but couldn’t slow down the Bulldogs once the floodgates opened.

Lakeview’s got a big test ahead with Poland on Tuesday, while South Range gears up for a doubleheader Saturday against Columbiana and Marlington.
