Lakeview stormed past LaBrae with a resounding 14-1 victory in Tuesday’s district semifinal, riding a monster second inning where they racked up nine runs. The Bulldogs kicked things off in the first when Izzy Haines grounded out but still managed to knock in a run.

The second inning was where the fireworks really happened. The Bulldogs capitalized on an error and mixed in a barrage of hits: Mack Stowe, Kennedy Bartlett, and Haines each brought in a run, Hallie Capan smashed a bases-clearing single, and Isabella Isenberg drove in two with a single of her own.

They didn’t let up, adding more in the third with Makenna Werner hitting a sac fly and Capan singling in another run to pad the lead.

Isenberg was solid on the mound, holding LaBrae to three hits and a single run over five innings, striking out five. On the flip side, Riley Rowe struggled for LaBrae, exiting after giving up ten runs in less than two innings.

While LaBrae’s Shelly Bragg, Mariah Jones, and Morgan Thompson each snagged a hit, it was Nalena Page who knocked in their only run.

Lakeview was hitting on all cylinders, gathering 13 hits. Capan and Bartlett led the charge with three hits apiece, with Capan driving in three runs. Kalyssa Werner, Isenberg, and Stowe also had multi-hit days. Discipline at the plate was key, as they drew six walks, with Werner and Paige Schwartz each walking twice.

Defensively, Lakeview was flawless, notching zero errors. Stowe led with the most defensive plays, showing their strength in the field as well as at the plate.

Lakeview advances to the district championship game on Thursday.  Lakeview will be matched up with Champion at LaBrae High School at 5:00.
