LATE RALLY ENDS HUBBARD’S SEASON

HUBBARD OH-  Field ran off with the lead late in the game in a 10-6 victory over Hubbard on Tuesday. The win advances Field to the district championship, ending Hubbard’s incredible season.  The game was tied at five with Field batting in the top of the seventh when Mallie Ruscitti doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Sarah Rufener led Field to victory by driving in seven runs. Rufener went 3-for-5 at the plate. Rufener drove in runs on a single in the fifth, a single in the sixth, and a home run in the seventh.

Hubbard fired up the offense in the first inning, when Gillian Ryser singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

After Field scored two runs in the top of the fifth, the Eagles answered back with two of their own. Field  scored when Rufener singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Hubbard then scored when Ryser doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Maddie Burge earned the victory on the rubber for Field. The righty went seven innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Ryser took the loss for Hubbard. The righty went one inning, allowing six runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one.

Phoebe Rusnak started the game for Hubbard. The pitcher went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three

Field scattered 12 hits in the game. Ruscitti, Rufener, and Olivia Dyer all managed multiple hits for Field Varsity Falcon. Rufener and Ruscitti each collected three hits to lead.

The Eagles collected nine hits. Ryser, Lexi Najdusak, and Grace Narkum each managed multiple hits. Ryser went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.
