LATE RALLY EXTENDS SALEM’S SEASON

STREETSBORO OH- Salem used a late inning rally to topple Streetsboro on the road in the sectional semifinals on Monday 5-4.  The Quakers scored three runs in the final two innings.

Jackson Johnson was the only Quaker with multiple hits as he went 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored.  Caden Swiger didn’t get a hit, but it was his huge sac fly in the 7th that gave the Quakers their final edge.

Carson Rhodes threw a two hitter for Salem in 6 innings pitched.  He struck out ten hitters and gave up just 1 earned run.  Gavin Wilms came on in the seventh to grab the save for Salem. He struck out two of the three hitters he faced.

Salem advances into the sectional final where they’ll meet up with EBC rival West Branch with a trip to districts on the line.  That game will be Wednesday at 5:00 at West Branch.
