LATE RALLY SENDS JFK HOME

MASSILLON, OH – Kennedy’s season came to a close in gut-wrenching fashion Thursday as Tiffin Calvert scratched across a go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to escape with a 4-3 win in the regional final.

The Eagles came out swinging, plating a run early off a Michael Bartoe RBI single in the first. Things stayed tight all the way through, with JFK holding a 3-1 lead into the sixth before the Senecas chipped away.

Tiffin Calvert knotted it up in the sixth and then delivered the dagger in the seventh—AJ Shoemaker punched a single into the outfield to score the go-ahead run.

Freddy Bolchalk went the distance for Kennedy, punching out six in a strong outing, but a few late hits and defensive miscues proved costly. The Eagles spread out five knocks on the night, with Andrew LaPolla, Landon Snyder, Dom Ryan, Taggart Carfangia, and Bartoe all tallying hits. Carfangia and Bartoe each drove in a run.

On the other side, Logan Ritzler held down the hill for Calvert, going the full seven and allowing just two earned. Cameron Moyer racked up three hits for the Senecas, while Shoemaker and Connor Moyer helped seal it late with timely swings. Kennedy’s playoff push ends one win short of state.
