LEOPARDS KNOW HOW TO START A WEEK

LOUISVILLE OH-  It came down to the wire Monday, and Louisville pulled off a walk-off win, 6-5, over Green.

Tied at five in the bottom of the eighth, Shae O’Neill stepped up and ripped a double to seal the deal for the Leopards, capping a gutsy comeback after they fell behind 5-1 early.

Green jumped on them quick, scoring three runs in the first with a pair of doubles and a single. They added two more in the third off a shot down the right field line to make it look like it might be a long night for Louisville.

But the Leopards punched back. Addy Campbell launched a three-run homer to left after grinding through a seven-pitch at-bat in the bottom of the third, getting the offense rolling. Leah Claugus later grounded out to bring another run home and tie it at 5-5 in the fifth.

Katelyn Miller was nails in relief, picking up the win after tossing seven and two-thirds innings of four-hit ball. She gave up just two runs, walked three, and struck out four after Anna Sirohman started the game but ran into early trouble.

Louisville’s bats stayed steady, racking up 10 hits. Campbell led the way with three RBIs and went 2-for-3. Claugus was a machine at the plate, going 3-for-4. O’Neill and Kaitlin Twinem each chipped in with multiple hits.

The Leopards played clean in the field, not committing an error all night. Taylor Thompson led the way defensively with six plays.

For Green, Natalie Spada knocked in two runs, and Alaina Rollyson led the offense with a 2-for-4 day. Green also played a clean game defensively, with Ella Rybarcyk making 12 plays at second. Next up, Louisville hits the road to take on Ursuline on Wednesday.
