LEOPARDS REIGN SUPREME IN BATTLE OF THE CATS
MASSILLON OH- Louisville clawed out a gritty 5-3 win over Perry on Monday, getting clutch hits late and a strong showing in the circle from Katelyn Miller.
Bailee Griffith set the tone early, launching a solo shot to left in the top of the first to put the Leopards on the board. Perry answered in the bottom half, tying things up after an error by Louisville helped push a run across.
It stayed tight until the fifth, when Anna Sirohman delivered a game-tying single and Addy Campbell followed with an RBI double to swing momentum back in the Leopards’ favor.
In the top of the seventh, Sirohman came through again—this time with a go-ahead RBI double. Leah Claugus tacked on a little insurance with a run-scoring single to make it 5-3.
That was more than enough for Miller, who went the distance and shut the door. She scattered seven hits across seven innings, striking out nine and not allowing an earned run.
Sirohman finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, leading the charge at the plate. Campbell and Kaitlin Twinem each chipped in with a pair of hits. Louisville also flashed the leather, turning a double play to help limit damage. Next up, the Leopards are back on their home field Wednesday to take on Strasburg-Franklin.
