LESTER LEADS BOARDMAN TO UPSET THE FALCONS

Boardman weathered a push by Austintown-Fitch in the sixth inning where Boardman coughed up three runs, but they still won 9-4 on Friday. The offensive onslaught by Austintown-Fitch was led by Bella Tofil, Ayla Ray, and Elyssa Molody, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Boardman fired up the offense in the second inning, when Nadia Rawhneh singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

The Spartans tallied five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to groundouts by Dana Haus and Madison Lester, a single by Morgan Cherne, and a double by Jenna Olexa.

Lester was the winning pitcher for Boardman. The righty surrendered four runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out 14.

Kayla Schubert took the loss for Austintown-Fitch. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out one.

The Spartans had 11 hits in the game. Olexa, Lester, Sam Hoffman, and Rawhneh each collected multiple hits. Rawhneh, Hoffman, Lester, and Olexa each collected two hits to lead.

Lydia Spalding led the Falcons with two hits in four at bats.
