LET’S PLAY CELESTE’S WAY; FAST START EARNS UNITED BIG WIN OVER WELLSVILLE

HANOVERTON, OH- It’s hard to overcome early deficits in defensive battles.  That’s the lesson the Wellsville Lady Tigers learned on Monday night.  United was able to jump out to an early 8-0 lead before the Lady Tigers could even get a shot off.  The Tigers would fight back, but the Lady Eagles proved to be too much as they took the early EOAC battle 40-35 at home.

Celeste Powers and Celeste Hofmeister had Wellsville seeing double as they each scored 11.  Bailey Boosz helped out with 10 points of her own to create the 3-headed monster attack for United.

For Wellsville, Cameron Carlevale had 14 points and 7 boards, while Leah Vinton’s seven tallies along with Elaina Weekley’s 8 rebounds kept Wellsville within striking distance.

United (5-2, 3-0) now anxiously await their bus ride to Columbiana on Thursday to take on the Lady Clippers who are also undefeated in league play.

Wellsville (3-4, 1-2) will head home to await East Palestine’s trip to “The Jungle” on Thursday night.
