LISBON LEAD SLIPS AWAY AGAINST EAST CANTON

CANTON, OH-  Wednesday’s game against East Canton was a heartbreaker for the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils, as they lost the lead late in a 14-4 defeat. The game was tied at four with East Canton batting in the bottom of the fourth when Mackenzie Kendrick lined out, driving in a run. The Blue Devils struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing East Canton, giving up 14 runs.

Lisbon got on the board in the first inning. Emma Thompson doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring a run.  East Canton took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kendrick lined out, driving in a run, Cassandra Wolfe singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Erica Robinson doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.  East Canton scored five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by East Canton was led by WolfeMadison Harris, and Mary Reichard, all driving in runs in the inning.

Marisa Hall took the win for East Canton. She went six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out five.  Sam Tinsley took the loss for the Lady Devils. She surrendered eight runs on nine hits over three and a third innings, striking out one.

Lisbon had eight hits in the game. Autumn OehlstromTinsley, and Hannah Deland all managed multiple hits for the Devils. Oehlstrom led Lisbon with three hits in three at-bats.  East Canton racked up 14 hits on the day. HarrisHarley MasonKaley SteigerwaldWolfe, and Robinson each racked up multiple hits for East Canton. East Canton didn’t commit a single error in the field. Steigerwald had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
