LISBON PUSHES PAST THE TIGERS

LISBON OH-  Lisbon used a late push to slip past Wellsville 4-3 on Wednesday, breaking a tie in the fifth and holding on the rest of the way. Wellsville came out swinging, jumping ahead early with a triple and a single to plate a pair in the first. They added another run in the third to retake the lead after Lisbon tied things up in the opening frame.

But Lisbon chipped away. They knotted it up again in the third, then cashed in the go-ahead run in the fifth with a base hit that made it 4-3—and that was the difference.

The real story? Lisbon’s arm on the mound. He was flat-out dominant, punching out 18 across nearly seven full innings while giving up just five hits and three runs.

Wellsville’s starter went the distance as well, grinding through six innings with eight strikeouts, but a few free passes and a couple timely Lisbon swings made the difference.

Wellsville’s cleanup guy did most of the damage at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. The Tigers also turned a double play to help keep things tight defensively.

Lisbon, meanwhile, played clean ball in the field and spread out the offense just enough to grab the win. Next up, Lisbon hits the road for a matchup with Chaney on Thursday.
