LISBON SEES THEIR RUN END

WARREN OH- Both teams had winning records on the season, but only one was able to come out on top, as it was the Semi finals at Candlelite Knolls Banquet Facility between the lady Brookfield Warriors with a record of 12 and six against the Lady Blue Devils of Lisbon with a record of 14-5.  Not only that, but this game would decide who would take on the Lady Braves of Badger and the Lady Mustangs of Matthew.

The first few innings saw it close with it being two to nothing Warriors after an error by McKenna Dailey which sent Izzy Shingledecker home.  The next run was in the bottom third when Autumn Sirochman singled on a line drive with Grace Shultz scoring.

Lisbon would get their first and only run of the game in the top of the fourth when Mallory Gallo singled on a line drive to center field with Dailey getting the run, cutting it to a one run lead.  The Lady Warriors had two more runs in the bottom of the fourth with Schultz singling on a hard grounder with Katie Logan scoring and then Sophia Hook scoring on a Sirochman single.

After a scoreless fifth inning where both teams showed tremendous pitching by both Mya Emmerling and Miranda Nicholson who both came into the game with winning records, the bottom of the sixth happened which made the game turn a complete 180, going from a close semi final game to a home run contest.

The first home run was when Hook homered on a fly ball to right field sending her and Cadence Huffman home.  The next one would be Abby DeJoy homering to center with her and Schultz scoring.  Shingledecker would then homer which would then be it for Emmerling who was then replaced by Morgan Lively.  That would have a little impact at first, but was not fully effective as Huffman would earn a three run homer with Jenae Pugh and Arianna Jones scoring ending the game with a mercy rule of 12 to one after nearly a full game.

Emmerling surrendered 12 runs on 16 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking zero before she was replaced late into the game.  Nicholas pitched a near full game only giving up one run on three hits over six innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

UP NEXT

Brookfield (16-8) will take on Matthews (22-4) who got a big 13-0 shutout victory against the Lady Braves of Badger.  This will be the finals Wednesday at Candlelite Knolls at 5pm.  Lisbon finishes their season at 14-6.
