LOUISVILLE LEAVES THE DUKES WITH NO ANSWERS

LOUISVILLE OH- Louisville slammed the door on Marlington Friday night, riding a late surge and lights-out pitching to a 4-0 shutout win.

It was a pitcher’s game early, with both squads trading zeroes until the fifth. That’s when the Leopards finally cracked the code. Ty Paumier rolled into a fielder’s choice that plated a run, then Luke Seaman stepped up and ripped a two-run single. Kolton Loy followed with an RBI knock of his own to cap off the four-spot.

Louisville used a three-headed monster on the mound. Blake Johnson started things off, tossing three scoreless and allowing just one hit. Carter Deem followed with two shutout frames of his own. Ashton Marshall shut it down late, grabbing the win with two innings of shutout work, striking out three and giving up just a pair of hits.

Offensively, it was a balanced night at the plate. Aljancic, Paumier, Johnson, Rice, Loy, and Seaman all chipped in with a hit. Paumier, Loy, and Seaman each knocked in a run.

The Leopards flashed the leather, too—clean sheet in the field, zero errors, with Johnson leading the way with five putouts.

Marlington’s Heatherington did what he could, going 3-for-3 at the plate and throwing six solid innings on the hill, but got tagged in that big fifth. The Dukes showed patience at the dish, working six walks, and turned a slick double play on defense, but couldn’t get a run across. Louisville hits the road to take on Hoover next.
